Sweet Brides and Grooms...

Just a little tidbit of one of the hundreds of things we are conjuring up this week...lots and lots of gumpaste roses!! It is Gina & Andrew's 1st Anniversary. That means it is already time to remake their wedding cake topper--this is something extra we are able to offer our brides on their first anniversary to help commemorate this occasion. After all, who wants to stick with the tradition of eating year old cake??? Not our brides & grooms!!!! ;)

Happy Anniversary Gina & Andrew! Cheers to a long and healthy marriage!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

To celebrate this special time of year we wanted to share one of our favorite recipes with you:

Sweet Potato Orange Cups

{makes 8 cups}

For the cups:

8 oranges

4 cups canned sweet potatoes, drained

1 cup fresh pineapple, diced

1 cup orange juice (from prepared orange cups)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 eggs, beaten

1 Tbsp ground cinnamon

1 teas kosher salt

For the topping:

1 cup pecans, chopped

1/2 stick unsalted butter (4 Tbsp)

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup light corn syrup

1/2 teas kosher salt

1/4 cup bourbon

1 teas vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 375.

Prepare oranges first by slice off 1/8” from the bottom of each to help keep them from rolling. Flip the orange over and remove the top third. Scoop out and juice the flesh, reserving juice for the filling

Mash the sweet potatoes and next 7 ingredients together in a bowl. Fill the orange cups with the mixture then arrange on a baking sheet. Bake 45 minutes or until tops begin to brown. Meanwhile prepare the topping.

Toast the pecans in a saute pan over medium heat for 2 minutesor until aromatic. Add the next 4 ingredients; cook until syrupy.

Remove from heat and stir in bourbon and vanilla. Return to heat for 1 minute then spoon the mixture over the baked orange cups.

These are delicious and a permanent part of our Thanksgiving tradition!! We hope you enjoy them as well!!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
